ABOUT US - Become a Mentor
The Illinois Small Business Development Center at
the Starved Rock Country Alliance
If you have business knowledge and experience, you might consider becoming a mentor with the Alliance SBDC.
As a mentor, you need to:
hold a strong ethical and professional background with expertise in one or more areas of business
have strong communication and listening skills, as well as the emotional intelligence, to act as a role model, advisor, critic and consultant
be able to dedicate time to meet with your mentee
allow the mentee to drive the relationship, initiate meetings and set the agenda
help the mentee to develop important organizational skills
support and challenge your mentee, giving them fair, considered feedback on their performance
help develop your mentee's problem-solving skills and improve their self-confidence by allowing them to make their own decisions.
